Over 460,000 Units Sold: Geely’s EX2 is China’s most popular car for 2025

Hangzhou (China), January 29 2026 – Geely’s all-electric EX2 has seen an incredible level of success in its home market of China.

The new small electric car, developed on the same high-tech Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA) platform as the Australian market Geely EX5 and Starray EM-i, was crowned the top-selling vehicle in China across all vehicle segments, not just electric vehicle sales, with a total of 465,775 units sold in 2025.

As a key vehicle in the Geely lineup, the Geely EX2 has consistently driven market demand since launch. In a period of just 14 months, it has completed a significant transition from market newcomer to industry leader. By continuously achieving new sales benchmarks, Geely’s EX2 has established a consistent lead and redefined annual sales expectations within the industry.

To date, monthly sales of the Geely EX2 in the Chinese market have exceeded 40,000 units for 7 consecutive months, with September surpassing the 50,000-unit mark.

Bringing the Geely EX2 to the Australian market

Geely Auto Australia (GAA) confirmed in December 2025 it will bring the best-selling Geely EX2 to Australia in the second half of 2026. Joining the Geely EX5 EV and Super Hybrid Starray EM-i, this exciting new model will provide even greater choice for Australian consumers as the new entry into the Geely range.

The Geely EX2 is a rear-wheel drive, five door hatchback, measuring in at 4135mm long, 1805mm wide and 1580mm tall, with an overall wheelbase of 2650mm – only 100mm shorter than the wheelbase of the current Geely EX5 SUV, making room for upwards of 30 functional storage compartments to be placed throughout the cabin.

More information on standard specification, colours and pricing will be announced closer to the vehicle’s on-sale date later this year.
